GULF PRODUCTION MONITOR: July 2, 2009 Gulf production is lower for the second day in a row posting around 10.1 Bcf. Today's drop can primarily be attributed to an 80 MMcf drop at Independence Hub. Gulf Production will not be published tomorrow Friday, July 3 in observance of the July 4 holiday. On 7/10, BENTEK will be upgrading the look and feel of the Gulf Production Monitor. The content of the new report will remain very similar to the current report but is intended to display the information in a cleaner and more efficient format. During the upgrade the report will also be receiving a revised Gulf production sample. Through diligent and careful research and in association with changes to US Supply and Demand Methodology, BENTEK has been able to update the Gulf production sample to more accurately divide the region into components. Please contact BENTEK at (303) 988-1320 with any questions. TEXAS Observer: July 2, 2009 Today's HighlightsIn observance of the July 4th holiday, Bentek will not be publishing reports tomorrow Friday, July 3rd. First of the month nominations were revised up yesterday and Texas injections came off significantly. Storage injections are down 348 MMcf/d today to only 226 MMcf/d as exports increased on Tennessee out of South Texas and in the Permian/Waha area. Maintenances continue restricting take away capacity out of the state but higher than normal demand has helped to absorbed some of the extra gas. Gulf Crossing is running at about 600 MMcf/d today but is still projected to come back up closer to capacity of 1.3 Bcf/d. MidContinent Express will start delivering again tomorrow to Columbia Gulf, expect volumes to increase by about 250 MMcf/d which should alleviate some of the pressure on NGPL TexOk basis. US POWER - GAS BURN REPORT: July 2, 2009 dropped 1.6 Bcf today to land at 23 Bcf.The past couple of weeks we have seen some healthy power burn numbers. Hopefully this continues throughout the rest of the summer so we can chew up some of the oversupply and help keep prices out of the basement.Fuel switching is postponed for the summer due to inflexibility in the dispatch curve while load is high. Hopefully it will return in the fall.No report tomorrow. Happy 4th! 06/29/09 1046AM Canaport LNG Received Its First Cargo Ship on Saturday, June 27thOn Saturday, at Midpec Beach, there was a crowd of about 100 people to welcome the Bilbao Knutsen, a tanker carrying Canada’s first shipment of LNG to be delivered to the new Canaport facility.
Repsol, owner of the Bilbao Knutsen and 75% partner in the Canaport facility, plans to sell between 200 MMcf and 400 MMcf of the 1 Bcf per day capacity at the Canaport terminal. It is anticipated that at least one boat a month will dock at the Canaport terminal with more in the winter to serve higher demand. This particular boat is expected to remain docked at the Canaport terminal for approximately 12 days.
Although the first shipment has officially arrived and is being celebrated, it is a commissioning cargo and commercial deliveries can be expected later in July.
