GenCast


Mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Clean Air Act, 97% of all oil, coal and natural gas-fired generation data across the U.S. is submitted by power plants at the boiler level one month after the end of each quarter. BENTEK’s GenCast™ database refines actual emissions and fuel consumption data from the EPA’s Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) into a query-optimized format that enables hourly emissions, fuel usage and generation data analysis at every power plant boiler over 25 MW nationwide, including fuel switching.

BENTEK’s GenCast allows for robust analysis of how power markets utilize oil, coal and natural gas-fired generation. The scalability of the database allows for users to develop knowledge of everything from plant-specific heat rates and emission rates, to coal-to-gas switching, to market share by fuel type across the U.S. This information is critical to analyzing the power market’s reaction to changes in commodity prices.

Used in conjunction with BENTEK’s Energy Trend Analyzer (ETA), GenCast allows users to match up other BENTEK datasets such as flow, price and weather and quickly develop market snapshots of how the power sector and natural gas demand market interact.
