BENTEK Energy’s founder and president will step down after dedicating 26 years to providing the energy sector with actionable market intelligence, transparency and insight.

EVERGREEN, CO (November 11, 2011) – BENTEK Energy, a Colorado-based energy market fundamentals and consulting company, announced today that founder and president, Porter Bennett, will step down at the end of the year. Mr. Bennett founded BENTEK in 1985 and led the evolution of the company from an energy industry consulting firm specializing in market and customer analysis into a leading energy market analytics company that supports customers worldwide. Mr. Bennett will continue to work with BENTEK in an advisory role after his retirement and will remain active in the energy industry.

BENTEK’s General Manager James Simpson will assume the leadership role held by Mr. Bennett. Mr. Simpson has been with BENTEK since 2004 and was promoted to general manager earlier this year. Widely recognized as the most knowledgeable authority on natural gas flows and capacities in North America, Mr. Simpson will lead BENTEK’s efforts to further expand its presence into global markets covering natural gas, oil, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

On January 3, 2011, Platts completed the acquisition of BENTEK to broaden its analytical services in natural gas and related power markets.
