"There is so much more crude oil available today because of the unconventional drilling started with natural gas," he said. "Now, producers are using the same techniques for crude oil, unlocking crude oil in Mid-Continent."
Bentek Energy LLC, a Colorado-based energy markets information and analytics company, reported that U.S. crude oil production is expected to rise from the current 5.8 million barrels per day to 8 million barrels per day by 2016.
Canadian and U.S. crude oil production combined will total 12 million barrels per day by 2016, said Jodi Quinnell, a Bentek Energy senior energy analyst.
