Texas Gulf Coast Onshore production hit 6.0 Bcf/d in March, led by the Eagle Ford Shale – increases expected to continue

Friday, April 13, 2012

BENTEK projects the Eagle Ford Shale will drive a 15% increase in Texas Gulf Coast Onshore natural gas production by November, offsetting declines in other Texas basins. BENTEK expects Texas to be increasingly long gas in the near-term as Eagle Ford production growth continues to outpace demand and put downward pressure on regional prices. BENTEK’s Texas Observer reports total Texas supply is up 1.0 Bcf/d or 5% year-to-date from last year, driven by onshore production growth, while total demand is up 0.6 Bcf/d for the same period. Due to the combination of Marcellus pushback and milder winter weather, net Texas outflows have declined nearly 0.4 Bcf/d since this time last year. As a result, Texas is currently 0.8 Bcf/d longer supply than year-to-date 2011.

BENTEK’s Texas Observer details the daily balance of natural gas supply, demand and storage in Texas and provides an up-to-date report that keeps readers current on regional market trends and interregional dynamics. With a new format that includes an updated production model and additional forward-looking content, the Texas Observer explores the relationships between natural gas fundamentals and price data to enhance your daily decision making.

Key features of BENTEK’s Texas Observer:

• Section dedicated to the Eagle Ford that includes updates on rig activity and production, gathering, processing and intrastate connect receipts from the Texas Gulf Coast Onshore basin

• Infrastructure updates, including Eagle Ford expansions, Mexican export projects, LNG export projects and planned storage capacity additions

• Track the impact of Marcellus growth and basis spreads on Texas outflows

• Analyze how low natural gas prices are affecting regional production and demand from the power sector

BENTEK’s full line of Observers provides regional coverage of natural gas supply and demand dynamics, price differentials and inflow/outflow analysis.

BENTEK’s Cell Model database balances supply, demand and storage on a region-by-region basis and provides new visibility into the movement of natural gas in the U.S.
