The leading energy industry data and analytics of BENTEK now powers Platts geographic information system (GIS) data. BENTEK's extensive GIS Layer Files include more than 60 North American and European geospatial layers that span the crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGL) and power markets. Each layer focuses on a specific set of infrastructure that can be used to visualize the energy market landscape, perform critical analysis and create custom maps.
BENTEK's GIS Layer Files are available in the following formats: Google Earth (.kml/.kmz), ESRI (.shp) and MapInfo (.tab), providing both non-technical users and GIS analysts the resources to easily access and manipulate the data behind each layer.
All features contained in BENTEK's crude oil GIS layers include critical spatial and business attribute data including name, ownership and capacity. In addition, the spatial accuracy of each point is consistently refined through new aerial imagery and map sources. More than 95% of the crude oil pipelines included in BENTEK's GIS Layer Files are verified to be within 40 feet of their real-world location.
BENTEK's crude oil GIS Layer Files include:
• North American pipelines with the following business attributes: name, owner/operator, system, diameter and operational status
• North American refineries with the following business attributes: name, owner/operator and capacity
• Recent pipeline updates in key production areas including the Alberta oil sands, Bakken and Williston
BENTEK is also offering a bundle of GIS files that specifically relate to the crude oil infrastructure cited in the recently released Crude Awakening: Shale Boom Hits Oil Market Alert. This bundle provides comprehensive coverage of all refineries, pipelines and producing areas referenced in the Market Alert and includes additional formatting and business attributes for improved viewing and functionality.
