Demand tumbles below 100 Bcf/d mark

US demand is down 25 Bcf/d from Friday’s levels at 97.1 Bcf/d as weather in the east tempered, resulting in a precipitous drop in res/comm demand. Res/comm demand slipped 18 Bcf/d below Friday with the Northeast and Midcon Market at the forefront of the declines, falling 6.6 Bcf/d and 5.9 Bcf/d, respectively. US demand is expected to see further downward pressure throughout the week as temperatures continue to warm, averaging 99.8 Bcf/d over the next six days and hitting a three-week low of 87 Bcf/d by Sunday. Thursday, however, may bring a slight resurgence in demand due to a short-lived decline in temperatures increasing demand to 113 Bcf/d. US dry gas production is up 0.4 Bcf/d from Friday to stand at 71.6 Bcf/d or 0.5 Bcf/d above the prior six-day average. Texas led the resurgence in production receipts, climbing 0.6 Bcf/d as Texas Onshore sample spurred the gains.
