Our research covers the gamut of analytical issues: Operational (inbound and outbound gas flows, capacity constraints, pipeline interconnect logistics, access to major pricing hubs, regional balance, and capacity/basis relationships); Commercial (demand for capacity, storage, storage pricing, relationship to basis, arbitrage opportunities); Potential Upsides/Downsides (future interconnects, trading opportunities, impact of new LNG facilities, competing pipelines and storage locations); and Financial (valuation, contract mix, hedging strategy, basis forecast).

 

We have conducted hundreds of consulting engagements and developed a variety of information-based solutions for clients across a wide variety of projects, such as:
 

• Pipelines: BENTEK® was retained by a Southeast/Gulf natural gas producer for a strategic and commercial assessment of a new regional pipeline. Analysis included pipeline capacity and the impact on the availability of surplus capacity, price implications for key trading hubs and competitive assessment versus other regional pipelines.

• Storage: BENTEK advised a major midstream company regarding an investment in a Northeast storage facility. The project included a detailed analysis of several regional pipelines, including connected supply and markets, rate structures, firm transportation contracts, storage pricing trends and flow patterns.

• Production: As part of a natural gas market development strategy for a global gas company, BENTEK evaluated the benefits and risks associated with an asset development deal with a key producer in the Haynesville play. This project included a production forecast of all major shale plays.

• Acquisition: BENTEK conducted a market assessment of a major interstate pipeline related to the possible acquisition of that system. The project included an analysis of the strategic, operational and competitive position of the pipeline, and a valuation of the pipeline based on current and projected market conditions.
